Special fund for fighting against the novel coronavirus pandemic

2020 is not an ordinary year, in which the novel coronavirus pandemic has spread all over the world, affecting almost everyone in the country. Under the severe situation of pandemic prevention and control, the Heungkong Charitable Foundation took concrete actions to fight against the novel coronavirus pandemic on January 28 by setting up a special fund of RMB 10 million initially for fighting against the pandemic in such ways as providing financial, material and other supports for the front-line fighting and joint prevention & control of the pandemic in places including Wuhan, Hubei province. Meanwhile, the special fund has been paying continuous attention to the progress of the pandemic, providing solid supports to the front-line medical professionals and their families, offering continuous follow-up and care for groups of people who are trapped by the pandemic, and providing assistance in dealing with post-pandemic issues.

Mei Hing Chak, the founder of the Foundation, noted that “Those who share the same desire will succeed, and those who share the same boat will win. As the Heungkong Charitable Foundation is as the first national non-public philanthropic foundation registered with the Ministry of Civil Affairs, it is incumbent upon us to actively engage in anti-pandemic work. We believe that under the leadership of the government and the concerted efforts of the Chinese people, we will definitely win this battle against the pandemic!”

After establishment of the anti-pandemic fund, we kept making efforts by donating money to the front-line anti-pandemic hospitals, providing subsidies and material supports to medical professionals and their families, carrying out overseas procurement of emergency medical supplies for and promptly donating the same to designated hospitals in Hubei and other parts of China, providing pandemic prevention emergency materials for the joint prevention and control front-lines in urban and rural communities, donating over RMB 10 million on an accumulative basis, and earnestly fulfilling our mission of “giving back to society through dedication of love”, which has also attracted high attention of and wide spread by the media.

On January 28, a special fund for fighting against novel coronavirus pandemic was established.

On January 29, RMB 500,000 was donated to the Guangdong Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital to help it carry out pandemic prevention work.

On January 30, RMB 500,000 was donated to the Guangdong Provincial People's Hospital to help it carry out pandemic prevention work.

On February 3, the first batch of nearly one million pieces of medical and protective supplies under emergency global procurement arrived successfully.

On February 6, medical masks, protective clothing and other supplies were sent to several first-line anti-pandemic hospitals.

On February 7, donated RMB 2 million to the Guangdong Women and Children Foundation for extending cares to families of Guangdong medical team members who were sent to fight against the pandemic in Hubei province.

On February 11, the second batch of medical and protective supplies under emergency global procurement arrived successfully.

On February 14, medical and protective supplies were sent to the cities of Ezhou and Jingzhou of Hubei province.

On February 26, donated medical alcohol and medical disposable disinfection gel to several first-line anti-pandemic hospitals in Guangdong province.

On February 28, donated RMB 1 million to the Guangdong Foundation for Poverty Alleviation for rewarding members of Guangdong medical team who were sent to fight against the pandemic in Hubei province.

On March 4, the third batch of medical protective supplies under emergency global procurement arrived successfully.

In March, the Foundation donated anti-pandemic materials and suppliers to 2 provinces, 7 cities, 5 towns and 2 villages and more than 200 urban communities on an accumulative basis.
