President of Heungkong Group Mei Hing Chak on the List of China Philanthropy Leaders

On December 5, the list of China Philanthropy Leaders was officially published, 10 entrepreneurs on the list donated almost RMB 18 billion within the most recent one year on a cumulative basis, and in addition to donating money, they spared no efforts to explore innovative philanthropy models and promote new philanthropy ideas.

As the first list of China Philanthropy Leaders, it not only focuses on annual performances of candidates, but also takes historical factors into account. Among entrepreneurs on the list, Cao Dewang, Wang Jianlin, Niu Gensheng and Mei Hing Chak are not the ones who have made highest donations, but they have far-reaching influences on China’s philanthropy over the past.

Cao Dewang and Wang Jianlin are the very first entrepreneurs who participated in philanthropy in China, they keep investing in public welfare and philanthropy ever since the 1980s and 1990s, and they are pioneers and also witnesses.

The Heungkong Charitable Foundation established by Mei Hing Chak is China’s first non-public charitable foundation numbered 001 registered with the Ministry of Civil Affairs, and it created the history of establishing a non-public charitable foundation with investment by a Chinese citizen.

Ma Yun, Ma Huateng, He Qiaonv and Chen Yidan are recognized as the representatives of China's new philanthropy, they attracted much attention in recent years for their huge investment in the philanthropy cause and contributions to the promotion and development of new philanthropy concepts.
